We are pleased to announce that Deborah Jowitt will be the keynote speaker at Dance Across the Board's first conference on January 31st, 2009.
Deborah Jowitt has been writing about dance for The Village Voice since 1967. She has published two collections: Dance Beat (1977) and The Dance in Mind (1985). Her Time and the Dancing Image, won the de la Torre Bueno Prize for 1988. She edited Meredith Monk (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1997) and wrote the introduction to José Limon: An Unfinished Memoir, (Wesleyan University Press, 1999). Her Jerome Robbins: His Life, His Theater, His Dance was published by Simon & Schuster in 2004. She lectures and conducts workshops worldwide, as well as teaching in the Dance Department of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
